bio

Maximiliano Calabotta (b. 1993) is an artist and educator living, learning, and making in Fayetteville, AR. Born in Buffalo, NY, Calabotta was moved cross-country to Central Arkansas in 1998 where they lived until 2017, when they relocated to Northwest Arkansas.

Calabotta uses their art making as a tool of leverage, weighing societal issues in relationship to their own personal experiences of the world in hopes that naming and critiquing existing structures of oppression can open viewers up to conversations that they may not choose to have otherwise. Their work examines themes of personal identity, relationships (interpersonal and structural), religion, and memory.

Maximiliano Calabotta received a B.F.A. in Art Education with a focus in Community Practice and a studio concentration in Sculpture from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2022. They have shown their work in group exhibitions in and around Northwest Arkansas.
